Name Card Scanner reads the details on a business card from a photo and saves them as a contact, either in your own Google Contacts or as a contact file on your phone. This page explains exactly what happens to your photos and data. In short: photos and card details are not kept, and your contacts never pass through this site.

Photos

When you take or upload a photo, it is shrunk in your browser and sent to our card reader, which passes it to Google's Gemini API to read the text. The photo is not saved by this site. The details read from the card are sent back to your browser and not kept.

iPhone Contacts

On iPhone, choosing Save to iPhone Contacts sends the contact file to this site once and straight back, so that Safari opens Apple's Add Contact screen. It is not stored or logged, and contact details are never put in a web address. Saving to iCloud happens on your iPhone, through Apple.

Google Contacts

If you choose Sign in with Google, you grant access to your Google Contacts (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts) and your email address. The access is used only to:

The app does not read, delete or change any other contacts, and does not use your Google data for advertising or to train AI models.

All of this happens directly between your browser and Google. The access token stays in your browser's memory and is never sent to this site's servers. Your contacts are never stored, shared, sold or used for anything else. Use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Telegram bots

If you connect your own Telegram bot, its token is stored encrypted so the bot can reply to you. Only the chat that finishes the setup can use it. Photos sent to the bot pass through the card reader as above and are not saved. Disconnecting deletes the stored token.

Your own Gemini key

If you add your own Gemini key on the page, it is kept only in your browser, and your photos go straight from your browser to Google's Gemini API under your own key; this site does not see them. If you send your key to your connected Telegram bot, it is stored encrypted with the bot and used only to read the cards you send it. Remove key on the page, or /forgetkey in the bot, deletes it.

Usage limits

Each visitor and each connected bot gets one free test scan a day on this site's Gemini key; after that, you add your own free key. A short-lived counter keyed to your IP address or bot is kept for up to two days for this purpose only, and your browser remembers that the test scan was used.

What is stored, and how to delete it

No data is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build profiles. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

Children

This tool is meant for adults handling business contacts, and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Anything that changes how your Google data is used will be stated here before it takes effect.
